
If you run a local construction business you’ve had annoying clients give you objections before, it’s so annoying. You know: “It’s too expensive”, “I have to talk to my wife, “I have to think about err shopping” etc, we’ve all had it.
Let me tell you how to fix that forever and ever.
Now if I was a sales trainer, I would start talking about sales, tricks, words you could use and sentences and all of that good stuff.
But I’m not, because I figured out a long time ago that you don’t solve this problem using sales.
You solve it using marketing. That’s the way, that’s the only way.
Let’s say you want to produce a movie, weird idea I know we’re not producing movies but let’s say you want to produce a movie and you’re trying to get a lead actor to come on board and you have to get the best actor possible.
A guy comes in gives a great performance but no one knows him. You think to yourself.
Should I go with a no name actor?
Should I do that?
Then he starts laying on the one liners about why you should hire him anyway. Your still going to be hesitant whether you hire him or not.
Now imagine your doing your script reading and Tom Cruise walks in. The man doesn’t have to say anything.
If he says “I’m going to do this movie, but I’m not going to say anything.” You’ll probably still say yes because he is Tom Cruise. And now we can say well Tom Cruise is in the movie. Would be great.
It’s not about what he says, it’s not about his objection handling. It’s about him being him.
You don’t need more objection handling, you need more marketing.
You need to reach these people when they start looking for you, so you already have position in their mind. And they end up with you after they’ve talked to their wive and after they’ve “thought about it” because you are THE company.
You should be a big fish in a small pond. The small pond is your clients that are looking for you locally. They’re looking at your stuff and they’re checking their problem and how to solve it.
You need to be there.
If you are there, you will crush every objection because you’ve been with them from the start. You’re the logical option.
